The Opportunity…

Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor you will have overall responsibility for ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance is carried out to the highest standard, in accordance with best practice and H&S guidelines, whilst generating profits in line with the company’s targets and ensuring repeat business. You will manage your own diary starting in Central London for 8am, with a 5pm finish and ensure all works are booked and carried out timeously, with regular update calls to your supervisor to maintain time critical SLA’s. In addition, you will be responsible for allocation of direct labour and sub-contractors when required, whilst completing small handyman jobs yourself when deemed necessary. Good record keeping is essential using daily record sheets and purchase orders ensuring all costs are captured regularly and variation information is captured to assist the Commercial Manager with invoicing. Building Services

This is a role for someone who has come up on the tools and who wants to progress their career further.

  • Attend all relevant project meetings and support in the development of construction strategies and estimates
  • Ensure all mandatory site signage is in place in prominent places and that a construction safety notice board is in place at the site entrance
  • Ensure that all areas where work is taking place are suitably segregated from AZ staff and other members of the public
  • Ensure that a suitable and sufficient risk assessment is in place for all construction activities and where appropriate a suitable method statement is requested; use the RAMS submission form to sign of RAMS & ensure current RAMS are displayed on the site notice board
  • Ensure the Residual Risk Register (RRR) is in place and displayed on the site notice board and that actions are regularly reviewed and closed out in a timely manner
  • Advise contractors on PTW / CWAR requirements whilst retaining control of high-risk activities
  • Ensure the project contact list is displayed on the site notice board
  • Ensure all operatives are site inducted and that they are issued with a copy of the site rules and a sixty second check card before starting work on site
  • Induction records for operatives directly inducted by AZ must be undertaken and kept in the site file

  • To manage the Mechanical division of a residential project in Central London from conception through to delivery, reporting to the Project Manager

A well-established, design & build engineering contractor are looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager to join their team in their housing team in Bedford. You will be covering the Northern Home Counties Region (Buckinghamshire to Essex) working with the most prominent house builders in the UK.

The Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager

You will be working under the senior contracts manager operating from the office in Bedford with regular visits to site. You will be handling 7-10 contracts, mainly in low rise, high value residential developments across the northern home counties. There are approximately 15-20 installers that you will be managing so it will be essential you have good organisational and communications skills. This role would suit you if you have experience in managing multiple contracts / projects at the same time or if you are in a more junior role (site / construction manager) and bring a lot of energy and drive to the position.

Some of your responsibilities would be:

  • Form close links with the client’s representatives and their teams at a senior level.
  • Provide monthly labour forecasts for all Projects and share with the business
  • The greatest risk to any project is uncertainty, therefore the Contracts Manager must maintain focus on this as their main concern as an attempt to reduce risk significantly through open communication with all Managers and fellow senior Management representatives, so all can voice their opinions and concerns.
  • To overcome certain tasks and conflicts a Contracts manager must show initiative and be able to find ways to best adapt a situation to provide a successful overall outcome.
  • Review the Project periodic progress reports and in turn reports to their Line Manager / Directors any emerging trends and concerns on their projects by suitable media.
  • Monitor the Gas and Electric compliance across all Projects.

You will ideally have been working as a quantity surveyor for the last 10 years, specifically on projects from £5m to £50m in the commercial market either fit out or new build. The right candidate will be qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent and have a good mechanical and electrical knowledge and skill base. You will possess a good knowledge of current technologies and have a keen interest in emerging ones. You will be willing and able to learn and use your knowledge to help develop the team around you.

Responsibilities

The principle duties of the post are:
  • Fault diagnosis
  • Use of advanced diagnostic tools
  • Training
  • Liaison with Technical Services and Support Managers
  • Reduce dependency on external contractors
  • Produce periodic reports of garage technical issues

Previous experience using a range of the following equipment and working on systems is desirable; Volvo Tech-tool/Impact, BAE / Siemen hybrid systems, Cummins Insite Pro, Cummins Quick-serve, Scania SPD3, Allison Doc, ZF Testman.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday – Friday middle shifts (38 hours a week), but flexibility will be required. There will be opportunities for overtime as and when required by the business.

An Excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager / Satellite Manager to join one of the UK’s Leading Bus operators.

This is a key post which reports to the Engineering Manager. We are looking for a well-motivated individual who can demonstrate first class management skills and be able to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

The principle duties of the post are:

  • Effective supervision of a fully skilled team of engineers.
  • Safety, monitoring of performance, adherence to company policies and procedures, discipline of staff.
  • Adhering to the vehicle maintenance schedule, inspection of vehicles and carrying out quality checks.
  • Ensure maximum availability of vehicles and reducing mechanical lost mileage to the absolute minimum.
  • Working on a rotating shift basis. Responsibility for the 24-hour sheets, issuing worksheets to staff and ensuring that necessary repairs, adjustments or attention to vehicles is carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensure that any outstanding work is carried forward on the 24-hour sheet.
  • Deal with road calls and requests to cover any emergency that may arise.
  • Deal with telephone calls and other communications.
  • Liaise with the Operating Manager and Traffic Controllers.
  • Responsibility for security of premises, stores and health and safety of staff on the premises.

The Satellite Manager will also be required to undertake the tasks of the staff he/she supervises. NVQ level 3 or equivalent would be desirable for this role.

You will be offered a basic salary of £44,262 per annum

The successful candidate will be required to work early and late shifts.
